Risking a slap upside the head from the FINE FOLKS HERE AT ARMORAMA I am posting this idea in a second forum since the C3 Forum is not that widely read.

Proposed Name: BY THE BOOK

This campaign would require modeling a scene from a fictional book. The genre of Military Fiction spans a pretty wide range of eras, locales and subjects. (Think “Team Yankee” or “Red Storm Rising” or whatever strikes you as a good mental image to model). It would include Armor, Aircraft, Figures, Ships...Obviously the products would be dioramas.

The “hook” for this campaign would be the requirement for you to submit the SCENE prior to building! In other words you’d have to copy the passage you are modeling, post it to the Campaign Folder along with the Title/Author of the Book and THEN commence building.

To put some parameters on this idea a timeframe of 1939-2010 seems reasonable and no Sci-Fi (sorry Sci-Fi fans).

Options...A few stray thoughts or ideas that could be incorporated would be to allow movie scenes (but I’d prefer NOT TO since it takes the “interpretation” part out of the build.) Books that have been made into movies are still OK.

The purpose of this Campaign is for you modellers to USE YOUR MINDS EYE to translate the imagery in your mind, to a finished diorama.

I’m open to thoughts, comments, etc.

Sounds good, but you may want to list this in the diorama's area, and you may want to set it up for only one book to keep it simple...like a "red storm rising" campaign or such.

I would be in for it though...heh, what am I NOT up for! #:-)

Timing on this Campaign would be AFTER T2000 and Red Dawn. There are a bunch of campaigns queing up right now and I don't want to start up in the midst of all the others.

Shhhhhhhhhh...I'm off to the A/C, Ship and Diorama forums to post about this now. Don't let Gunnie know!

GREAT! Now we're getting some response!

There is a thread in the C3 Forum to discuss this, and well that is wwhere we should finish the discussions up. This Forum was a fishing expedition to drum up some interest, and it has worked!

See you in the C3 Forum!
