Gents,

I picked up a set of these Tahk figures which come from Russia and are a set of 3 German tankers, with two in winter out fits and the third in black leather. These don't have any instructions or paint call outs, so I have no idea how to paint them, and I have no idea what they should look like colour wise as I am not familiar with german tankers (first time with german tankers and a King Tiger during Battle of the Bulge). Your help/advice would be appreciated.

TIA

Hi

i think that maybe the set

well painting them all depends on how you wish to present them if you are intent on having tham as wehrmacht or ss i will give you help for both scenarios

lets start with ss

the figure in the camouflage is wearing the reversable winter uniform which conssited of a jacket and trousers in either mouse grey or camouflage pattern reversable to white

mouse grey

the other man is wearing an u boat jacket is was quite common for some units to obtain navy jackets for winter use this will take some reaserach

the other man isnt wearing black leather he is wearing the standard panzer crew uniform which was made from black wool just add ss rank isignia if you want him to be ss

now wehrmacht

exactly the same for the winter parka except using wehrmacht camouflage

the figure in the navy jacket again the same and the panzer uniform just use wehrmacht insignia

the amin tip is not to get to bogged down in colour matching think of the figures as blank canavs as long as you give an impression of what the original uniform would have looked like and don't invent new uniforms that didnt exist you should be fine just have fun with your build.

you might find it useful to invest in some reference books or to use the links below
hope this helps

good luck

Simon

If you're referring to the centre figure (the commander) that's not the black leather jacket intended for Maschinenpersonal, it's a sheepskin overjacket, an item of clothing some Panzer units took to wearing during the winter months on the Eastern Front.

Brad,

I meant to point this out over the weekend, but didn't have the opportunity. I wanted to respond to one of your initial comments, just to explain both for your benefit and other newcomers to resin figures (I see you're a newbie armour/figure/dio modeller although a very experienced aircraft modeller ):

Resin figures are not normally accompanied with a painting guide for a couple of reasons, the main one probably being cost. Most resin figures are produced in small volumes by relatively small companies and the inclusion of such a printed document would increase the cost. In addition to this, and this is purely my personal opinion, I think resin figures aren't provided with painting guides because these figures really are for the figure connoisseur, and not for the newcomer that needs such guidance. After all, you don't buy a Ferrari and then complain it doesn't come with a guidebook on how to drive a car
