Give people a chance to answer - it may take a while to dig up research etc. The weekend isn't always the best time for fast responses to a question like this - most of us have lives outside of modelling.

(PS - I can't find any photos of this sherman!)

According to Concord's "The Sherman at War, Part 2 - The US Army in the ETO 1943-45" by S. Zaloga TONTO was commanded by Captain Bill Dwight, the assistant S3 and battalion liason officer. The tank was knocked out during the fighting near Commercy but later put back into action with Company B. Can't find any photos though.

I decided to use the 3 piece nose as a 75MM.

Heck with it I say.

Still can not see where Dragon got the idea of the decals from

According to Bison decals (http://www.angelfire.com/pro/bison/72009.html) it has the 3 piece nose, so your decision seems to the the right one

The only picture I know of Tonto (I think on a Concord book, can't recall which) shows the side of the tank and you can't see the nose.
