Thanks Tony for taking the time to comment. The camera is turning out to be easy to use and the photos are pretty clear now that I'm getting a bit better using it.
I haven't actually got to the base as yet but remember it has to have a DUKW, LVT(A)2 and a amphibious trailer all on it not to mention the Japanese pits and Medical area. Hopefully I can place them so they all relate to each other.
I have the DUKW as done as I'm going to for the time being. Since my other project is done I'll work on both the LVT (A) 2 and the trailer at the same time.
Here are the photos of the DUKW;

The DUKW looks really nice. Can't wait to see the rest of the project come together.

Thanks Russ and Dave, I appreciate the comments.
Just as a reminder I actually work on 2 items at the same time. Just so that when I get to the point of have to let something dry or if I'm so frustrated I could toss it, I stop and move to the other. When the fumes get to much I just stop.
Here are the latest I've completed so far on the LVT (A) 2 and the amphibian trailer;

Hey Bob

. Ambitious diorama. Great work buddy!. Im really enjoying this.
I've always fancied building an LVT 2 but I've herd about the Italeri kits being really poor.
Keep it up buddy.

Heya, Jaymes, I've built a few of the Italeri LVT kits and yeah, they require a bit of work, but they look great when done, amigo, so I would say not to be discouraged from moving forward on jumpin' in! And having built kits ranging from fantastic to miserable garbage, I definitely would not call their LVTs "poor" ...they're not up there with the Dragon and Tamiya or Hobby Boss kits, but they are worth the extra work here and there that you have to put into them.

Looks like you have your own groupies following you around.
Anyway it is worth the work and I’d be happy to send over whatever you need when you decide to give it a go. I have plenty of info on all the LVT’s (1, A1, 2, A2, 3, 4 and A4) and from most of the locations they appeared in.

Bob,
Great work on your DUKW! Looks like it is going to be an amazing, museum-quality diorama!!
What is the Amphibian trailer like? Always wanted one of these --- I assume that it is the Trakz kit?
Keep up the good work --- I've got a two and a half year old at home and there's just no way that I can embark on a project of any size and expect to finish it! So I'm living vicariously!!
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.

Looking great so far Bob, really like the work on that LVT 2.
Question, somewhat unrelated to the task at hand, but just thinking to myself about how exposed that drive shaft is, and the thoughts i have are, is there a cover that is yet to be installed, and if not, i wonder how many injuries were caused because of it!
Keep up the progress, eagerly awaiting more!
Cheers

Oh right i see now, but wow the "cover" is amazingly similar to what the drive shaft itself would look like thats really pretty interesting thanks for those pics Bob

David your welcome.
Robert, Thanks. Besides this diorama for my Sister I'm also in the Sea Plane Campaign that starts the 1st of Nov. and hopefully the Campaign in the Pacific will take off in Dec. and I'm saving my pennys for a flat top, not sure about that one. So many things to do and never enough time. I love it.

Bob, building a LVT-2, Italeri # 6462. Plans call for color "Navy Blue Gray". Is this correct? Please advise. Thanks, Bill McKinley Retired USMC.

Hi Bill,
Yes, which starts out as a fairly dark blue and fades all the way to a light blue and even a little grey?

This one is on Saipan.
So the actual choice of color is up to you, I start darker and lighten as I weather the model.
Later in the war some were repainted to the OD range but ALL were delivered in Blue.
Good luck on your build,
Bob
