Seb, Have you considered Hansa systems? I know its not perfect, but his stuff is great. I ve ordered one kit - the ruined house and a bunch of odds and ends. Its very close to legos - only better for 1/35 scale!

You could check out companies making styrene profile, they might make that sort you need. The only hazzle then would be cutting them to equally long pieces...
