I am working on the Trumpeter M1127 Stryker Recon Vehicle. I was wondering when and how the glazed sections around the drivers hatch are operated.

It is a windshield intended to be used in rain, snow, or other bad weather. It simply wedges between the hull and hatch. I have never seen it actually used.

Like you say Gino i have not been able to locate pictures of it in use. I was intrested to know how it operates, is it like a convertable car idea, internal fixing, folded away when not required. Although you say it is wedged between the drivers hatch and the hatch opening so i assume it is completly detachable for storage else where. Is the glazing ballistic.

Many Thanks

Just as i write my last post Frenchy responds with a photo of one of the windshield in use. Where would we be without all this information you guys have. It looks like this vehicle is driving on a public street, so i presume the shields are more lilely to be used in a non operational role whilst driving on a public roads to improve the drivers vision

Here's a better one from Flickr. The windshield appears to be an improved type :

Hi Paul,

There are several designs. This one is called "StrykShield" as shown in Frenchy's pic above, which is just an attachment. You can have all the info here:-

Here's the original caption : "The Army's Stryker also took a test lap at the Eldora Speedway in New Weston, OH. The vehicle will be on display at the Prelude to a Dream race and will be a backup vehicle to the Ripsaw MS2." (June 2, 2009)

Hi Paul,
I saved it for my next AFC Stryker...there's not enough detail on the underside of teh Trumpeter hatches.... just an option.

Cheers,
Sean
