Hello Guys;

I need some recommendations on which Hobby would be best to find items to add to the MRAP Cougar I'm working on.

I'm looking for the Gunner's Shield that was first issued with the Cougars
The later Gunner's station now on Cougars and HUMMVs
Also does anyone make in 35th scale a Caterpillar C7 and C13 engine,

My intensions are to build the Cromwell Cougar MRAP as one of the earlier JERRV's
Do another as one of the later production builds and the 3rd kit as an conversion / upgrade to the final build.

Thank you
Thomas

The kit builds into an early JERRV right out of the box, and with the correct turret.
For a later turret, see Legend's new PE and Resin turret for the M1151.
Later Cougars will have a few other mods not in the original kit -
No slip texturing on all horizontal surfaces,
Beefier lift rings,
IR camera mounted above the grill, with viewscreen over drivers station

Thanks Robert;
With me here at the Force I'm able to go out and look. Does anyone make the early Machine gun shield as a PE? If not I'll have to make one up out of brass. Are the Radios still availble from Pro Art?

I'm not sure which is the early shield actually. MiG has a shield in their M1114. Pro Art still do saome very fine radios and accessories. A guy was doing a build log on here using some or their products. I started one to but got sidetracked by life...

I am very pleased to hear some information on the MRAP. I believe you are talking about the 6x6 Cougar that Cromwell came out with earlier this year. Generally speaking, how is the kit? I am waiting impatiently for the release of the 4x4. A relative of mine has deployed 7 times to the Rack, the Stan and India (Navy E.O.D. forensics specialist) He made E-9 a few months ago and I sure would like to build his Cougar (with the "robot") from his last deployment before he retires in 2 years. From what I understand, Most if not all Cougars used by the Navy and USMC are 4x4's. Better mobility I guess.

Any news on the release of the 4x4? I have sent 1/2 dozen emails to Cromwell - no joy.

Out here.

Actually, the Cougar I measured for Cromwell was a 6x6 Navy Variantn and I've quite few other Navy 6x6 variants. The 4x4 obviously has less space inside for the two robots.

Hello Robert,

Bill's last 2 tours have been in the 4x4 and he believes that because of the better mobility narrower roads in Afganistan, the smaller versions are more common with his teams. I am not sure if the 4x4 carries 1 or 2 robots. I will ask and post some pictures when he gets back from vacation.

Hey Guys:

I've loaded some photos in kitmaker photo gallery under Aardvark78 of a 6x Cougar. These where taken last year at Charleston AFB Open House. They had the 6x Cougar, Buffalo, and early Cheetah on display. The 6x Cougar is pretty much what they where building the last couple of years. The Cromwell model is a good kit and will build into a very nice version of an early JERRV / EOD vehicle as used by the Marines. I'll find out where they plan to have any vehicles on public display and let all who are interested know.
