I brush paint and have always used Humbrol - got to buy British you know!
Recently I have been trying Tamiya acrylics and enamels. (I still prefer Humbrol for brush painting.)
I have had no problems applying Humbrol enamel over Tamiya acrylic or vice versa. I have also mixed Tamiya and Humbrol enamels, typically silver and matt black, matt black and matt grey.
However I had major problems when I applied Humbrol matt varnish over Tamiya matt enamel. The finish came out high gloss! I fixed it by applying a coat of Micro Flat which also came out high gloss but acted as a sealer so I could apply the Humbrol flat.
Hope this helps.
Regards Dave :-)

I used to spray Clear or Mate Varnish Coat (Humbrol or Model Master) diluted with the specific thinner (Humbrol or MM) over acrylic paint and never had any problem. This is the same that spraying enamels over acrylics, Clear or Mate Coat are enemels without colour.

Theoretically it's ok. I've also got no problems when the underneath acrylics are very well dried. Anyway I prefer, just to avoid any unpleasant surprise, to seal the acryl with a coat of Future... Ciao
I have no problems with applying enamels over acrylics. I use acrylics (Tamiya and Gunze) only for airbrushing. For brushing I use Humbol products. They are excellent for painting, drybrushing and weathering.
