I guess subject says it all.

Do artillery pieces that use a retractable spade put it down for street fighting or keep it up?

Mostly for the Russian B4 203 MM

Thanks

depends on what gun it is a Palident more then like will not becase we shoot and move to avoide incoming rounds, a towed gun will put its spades down sinces it has to when fireing or it could mess up your azmith of Fire and youwould have to keep ajusting fire.

i did find a photo, saddly i cant now find it again... but it was a b4 firing in a street, they had dug up the cobbles just enough to get the spade in, i guess because it was firing at a relativly low angle so would have alot of backward force.
the b4 was not a gun you would move around very quickly anywhere i think

hope this helps
