I am the new and current Blast Model guy - as far as making resin parts go.

My first project:

a Uniroyal 1400R20 (tire only for the French Renault VAB 4x4 -

Master Cast and Posiive Master in production as of 01 Sept 2009. No further details until I hear from "my other boss". Laser RP Master being made as of 09/01/2009. No new news as of yet. Plans/ data NOT for sale, as this is a pro 3D CAD thing, so sorry all. Just a preview!!!

(disclaimer; I am a freelance 3D CAD designer; DO NOT ask me to make your own personal parts!!!)

My boss at Blast Models is working on the positive master mold for the tires through France's upcoming holiday. I am thinking they could be in production by some time this fall. Yes; they will be a new tread pattern for the VAB, instead of the Michelin tires.

I got an email from my boss this morning. Master Production has finished printing the first positive mold/ master, and he will get a working copy of it Saturday. That's where he will add the sag. He's got to do this four different times, so that the sag doesn't show up in the same spot and make the sidewall lettering look cheesy (with all four tires positioned the same way).

Good to see that issue taken in hand. Seems to be an afterthought with most manufacturers.

You know, that was a funny thing. My boss asked me to add a sag, and I thought it would look funny with all the sidewall lettering lined up like that, but the head of Master Production brought the issue up first. He said to add it to the master, four times, so it would look more realistic.

I hate toy-looking parts.

I can't quote that, but I'll check my inside sources and get back to you. You know how rumors get started . . . . . BUT

My boss is totally in love with the French Renault VAB 4x4. He loves the tires I did, but I wonder, why not the wheels too? hmmmm...

yeah - as I said, rumors are just rumors. I'll get back to you on this.

I smell a limited edition VAB modern update soon, but DO NOT QUOTE ME on that

Sincerely,
dragn

Well, my boss sent me some photos of the RP master and four resin master copies. I'm Impressed, however, the non-visible side of the tires came out a little rough, so he's going to touch them up and make them look good. Here's the four pics he sent me, before touching up the small defect - enjoy!

Wow these look magnificent, the tread pattern detail and crispness of it looks amazing. I hope the VAB kit comes out again, id really like one, getting more and more drawn to French armor.

I definitely need a bunch as I continue to acquire modern resin conversions for my VAB making the early Blast resin tires I bought last year out of date! I too wish they re issue the modern resin conversion.

Thank you!!! 3 days of geekin' out on the web hopefully paid off, researching the hell out of the real thing . . . .as little info as there was

Still no clue as far as a re-release of the LTD edition kit, or an updated kit for that matter. I do know that he's very interested in having me make an updated Michelin tire to replace the existing one on his web site. That's about it.

I guess the best thing to do, would be to start a new thread, asking everyone in the forum community to say "YES" in that thread to either bring back the old LTD edition VAB or make a new updated kit. The most I could do is email him and show him the link so he can see all the people that want it, but I will need the link myself.

I honestly have no clue how popular this kit happens to be, so if less than 100 say "YES", I seriously doubt it'll happen.

My boss will tell me when he's going to sell the new Uniroyal tire, so stay tuned! Haha - I get the RP master and the first sample piece (hope he sends all four and not just one tire!)

Thanks again for your comments though - greatly appreciated

As soon as my boss Gilles gives me the green light, I will be designing an updated version of his existing Michelin tire. No clue whether or not he wants me to add the wheel into it or not. I don't have the kit, so I have no clue if the tire and wheel are seperate Sorry - I'm a M3A3 Bradley guy

Thanks for the positive comments tho
