Hi everyone, as I mentioned in the Introductions page this is my first project post here.

This is an edited overview of a Diorama project that I kept as a Blog on other Fantasy/Sci-Fi Forums and was my first attempt at a Military Scale Model Project, following many years of Fantasy and Sci-Fi modelling and painting.

I certainly dived into the deep end and decided to go the whole hog with a Verlinden Resin interior detail set, Photo Etch, and Metal replacement gun barrel. It was a really eye opening experience and it really helped me learn alot about scale modelling. I also had great fun doing it!

It was a gift for a relative, and was taken overseas to be presented to my Father in Law.

I hope you enjoy the mini Blog and I'd love to hear the opinions of other scale modellers

As reference I'm working from the following two books by Osprey Publishing, In particular the work of Mig Jimenez of MIG Productions fame was a huge influence and inspiration. He really is a fantastic modeller and painter.

The Diorama plan:
The diorama will be a small peice with a T34/76 Tank driving through a battlefield scene with Infantry riding the tank as well as running along side the vehicle. The idea is to have a muddy battlefield and snow with effects such as tank tracks pressed into the ground, craters from shelling, as well as a great deal of water effects filling muddy puddles and craters etc. I want to try and give the piece a gritty realistic look whilst not going too over the top with the mud effects and weathering.

The fully finished T34 and Tank crew:

Transfers:

This slogan reads "Bei Fashistov!" "Crush the Facists!"

Further work on the Whole tank:

Here are some more WIP shots of the tank interior:

Snow and mud effects on the T34:

On the base:

The finished article:
"Brave Soldiers of the Red Army surge on to victory, the invader is repulsed and the Fascist's face their downfall! Praise be to Comrade Stalin! Glory to the motherland!"

Welcome Jon! I guess years of Sci fi modelling prepared you well for Armor...... Nice work, i especially like your work on the figures. Seems the interior wasn't really needed, or YOU know its there.

Thanks Chris!

I actually left the upper hull loose so it can be removed for easy viewing. So all the interior can be looked at and played with. My Father in Law seemed to really like it

Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate the feedback and its great to see what other scale modellers think.

This was in 1:48 and I used quarter scale as a stepping stone from moving to 28mm wargame models, I've now tried 1:35 and I'm loving it!
