Can someone explain how I can add a banner to my profile, for some reason it just not working when I try in my edit profile.

It looks as if you added the code from the "Linked Thumbnail". There is no need to add image tags.

Just go back into your profile, and add only the code shown below:

Not all banners with be aproved though. Make sure you wont upset any body with it.
