I got fed up with this old mark 4 sat about collecting dust so i thought i would have a go at doing some thing with it,Having see a few photo's of them in Normandy with what looks like cam net draped over them i had a bash at making my own.I don't think it turned out to bad but with all things i except a might have messed it up.or even with a bit more knowledge done a better job.
The cam net it self is made out of stuff i picked up from the local model shop that is used on model boats & ships to rap spare sails in that are left on the deck.
I simply cut it to size and sprayed it green and added the foliage which is from woodland scenics.
And with that done i found a old plastic display box which will become what i hope is a small peace of Normandy in 1944.
Just waiting for that to dry and i can make a start on the ground work which if i manage it will be a simple field, hedge and a dirt track not to sure on what figures but i thought about a tank crew at rest with some u.s para's sneaking along the other side of the hedge to take them out.

Andrew,
You may have gotten a little heavy handed with the way you damaged the skirts on the model. It looks more "melted" than bashed in. Of course it could be just the photo's that make it look that way to my eye. That being said, looks pretty good to me and it sounds like you had a great time with the build.

Thanks for the post Art and yeo it was fun lol,i was starting to think my modeling skills were that bad no one was going to bother lol.
Thinking of having one of these in the feild behind the hedge as a lot of photos show them and there is not forgetting the bit in saving private ryan lol.
But i am buggered at locating some good looking running crouching american para's

Well i have made a start on the ground work,Using a very nice looking grass mat from reality in scale.
Cut it to size and molded it to the base following hte instructions on there little sheet and glued it down using that rather easy kids will eat the stuff white pva glue.
only problems being as with all things i attempt nothing goes to plan and i ended up using well a 3/rd of the contents of my paint box to hold it down in place while it stuck.
So either things were not as simple as the instructions or i messed it up some were.
but several hours later it did not look to bad.
And with the pond and gate way texture added it seems to be moving forward a bit at a time.
Any comments or advise please point me in the right direction.

Using Dave Creel's meathed to make a stone wall from military scale model magazine august 2009 i gave it a go.
I started on the dry stone wall. it did'nt come out the way i wanted or expected it to but i was happy with the out come i just need to see were i went wrong and have another go at it,i started out laying a thin amount of clay on top of a plastic box lid.
I left it to dry about 24 hours took longer than i thought, then broke it up in to small bits.
I simply started at the bottom and worked up until i was happy with the length and height of what i was hopping would turn out to be a dry stone wall.
So with some weathering and finishing of i hope it does not look to bad.

Looking good so far man! The only thing I can see that you might consider changing is the GI in the 3rd pic. He seems to be wondering up to the germans unaware that they are there the way he is holding his weapon. Hope you understand what Im talking about. Other than that, great transformation!

Oh I was just looking at the pics again and found one more thing to touch up. The GI's have seam lines that should be cleaned up on thier arms and legs. Just slid the #11 blade over them at a 45 degree angle and they will be gone.
