Hola todos !
Some old figures I previously painted that i put on a base.
I still need to make the groundwork. Anybody has an idea on the type of groundwork I could use (I try to harmonize the color of the plant) ? : forest litter, small grass, tall grass or a mix ?
Another question : should I paint the tall plant with leaves or leave it as it is ?

Great work Julien!
I really love these figures!
Personally I would leave it as it is.

That would work, or maybe some static flock or loose leaves as well?

Hi
Lovely paintwork on the figures. Really nice neat lines especially the white on the blue.
I do think however the base foliage looks a little too large in scale compared to the figures. I like the idea, with maybe a change of folige to a smaller size if possible. I do realise that you've used natural products gathered from the wild though so it may be difficult to get smaller scaled ones.

Hi Julian,
Really great work on the figures and I like the contrast that you will get between their uniforms and the ground work.
Look forward to seeing it finished off, I like the mix of heights, although the twig at the back looks a bit too big or just needs more leaves.

Great work Julien! Excellant painting. The larger leaf plants seem to bug some people. Maybe you can say the plants are free range tobbacco varieties.
As for ground cover, you could use some ground up dried spices, dried coffee grounds, or tea leaves attached with some white glue mix.
Thanks for sharing this!
Rick

I really like the figures Julien. One thing bothers me about the groundwork, the shrubs don't look as they have been walked through and the figures don't look as they would if they are moving through scrub but down a clear path. Maybe break up the foliage a bit?

Hey,
Nice to read your posts guys ! the best figurinist and diorama makers are still there :-)
Thanks for your comment, and their constructiveness.
At the beginning I thought I would make a summer dio, painting the twig and shrubs in green. But hey the nature is well done (rough translation of a french saying), and now I love those automn color !
Alan (M ;-)), It was too much pain in the ass for making the foliage, he will stay as it is. But in the nature some leaves could be large (think to the fig tree for example). yes, maybe more common in a tropical landscape
Alan (L), for the twig behind I will try to add more leaves : it is taller, so your right, it should have more leaves than the others.
Rick, thanks, I often use my artistic licence (very profitable for me in regard of my modelling skills and patience. For the groundwork, I choose yesterday: it's common earth, on which I will put some dead leaves and small forest stuff.
Pat : at the begining I was planing to make a corn field with loads of dried plants perfectly imitating the corn ear, but very thin. I tried to reproduced the layed corn by the walking soldiers. It really makes me mad !!!!! But I agree with you some of the brushes must be broken or layed. Yesterday I started to put some on the ground.
Finally, one could think that little vignette like this are easy to make because they are small. In fact they are as tough, or even tougher than the large diorama, as you have to be very concentrate on the details, and the eye could not have a global impression and automaticallly focus on tiny details..
I will keep you posted folks
