Hi All
I am starting to build a CMP C60X Machinery Truck using the old Max-Italeri 15 cwt Chev. The major snag is the rear bogie assembly. I was planning to use the bogie assembly from the Italeri CCKW but was advised by another modeller that the spacing is wrong for the size of the CMP wheels. My measurements confirm his findings. So here are my questions.
Has anyone built one and if so how how did you build the bogies?
Does anyone have any pictures or measurments that you would be willing to share.
I have tried many sites and found great pics but no really good details.
Thanks mike

I've only built up to the C60L from this kit so I can't help with tips for the bogies, but I've found a couple of sites that may help:

http://www.imagecontrol.com.au/oldcmp/C60X_1.html

Looking at some of the photos, the springs could be laminated from card, and the mountings from heavier sheet? I wouldn't think it would be any more difficult than the chassis extension.

There's a C60X FAT that really looks interesting - you've reawakened my interest in CMPs!

Mike,
Yes you are correct that the CCKW bogies are too short (44" BC) and the Chev C60X is 52" BC. Probably the quickest and easiest method would be to scratchbuild your spring pack, here's a SBS article that may assist -

Since the C60X has a pronounced bow in the springs and the Italeri part is flat I don't see any option but build your own, or the only other alternate would be to remove a couple of leaves from the Italeri part and attach longer lower spring leaves, in my option more hassle than scratchbuilding a new part.
HTH.
