Hey folks can anyone help re the photo backdrops I have seen used to cap off some impressive dio work I've seen? What is the chief example used? Can they be from magazine/book panoramic photos etc. Are they makable (?) from digital printers etc. If so, ?I have to be real nice to my brother all of a sudden... He also has a digital camera which is my pipedream for actually getting some finished work displayed on this site.... Cheers all

You can take your own images, enlarge them to the apropiate scale and size.
You can also take pictures that doesnt need to be scaled, like a treeline from a forrest far far away. With no scale reference.
Drop by your locar travelburea and ask for posters as many of these can be used for backdrops.
Railroadshops also have backdrops that can be used even if theyre intendend for scale railroaders.

Local hobby shops that specialize in scale trains often carry a large selection. You should also try the online "mecca" of train collectors WALTHERS.COM.... here is an example of some of the stuff I have found typically they are one or two panels wide, and the second panel can join the first paner at EITHER end - meaning you can get some really nice effects. I have found several "battlefield" and "urban area" backdrops that I use often. Here is one that is a little more rural....

That picture is spooky! If you look closely, you'll note that each side is a mirror image of the opposite side!

Good call AJ. When I first saw that picture I thought Julie Andrews was gonna come spinning into view at any minute, ala "Sound of Music."
