Great work, beautiful! Did You already finish the paintjob? Perhaps You could apply a bit of dust to the bottom of the figures in order to blend them to the scenery ....

Eric,
Great piece of work. Is this based on a specific event? Emotionally, this feels like a retreat, rather than an advance. Maybe it's the combination of vehicles and the less than organized look of the foot soldiers. That doesn't at all detract from the skills and ambition you've shown in tackling such a huge subject and having done so extremely well.

It appears that you and i are working on a similar project... right down to the same ICM and DML kits! i purchased 3 of the Wagon with Walking soldiers kits from ICM for a total of 6 wagons and about 40 figures. i found the figures were poorly done (lots of air holes, gaps, pin marks, etc.) and required a LOT of sanding and filling... was this the case with yours as well? I also found most heads quite useless... i replaced the majority with Hornets, Verlinden, and Warriors heads. I have my soldiers walking on a dyke in Holland with a destroyed windmill in the background that is serving as a rest station. Brilliant minds think alike, eh?

Ralph ,

Your right the footwork of the soldiers has to be dusted into the color of the groeund work .
I already realized that that is some thing i have to do .

It's indeed funny that you work on a simular project ...
For the figures concern mine were also poorly casted....
I also had to do a lot of filling and scraping on the figures but the end result was satifieing in the end .
But i maintained the heads that were added in the boxes because i was not able to get new heads in such a short notice .
But as i said with a lot of patience an sculpturing i redesigned all the heads .

I hope your project will be as nice looking as mine !!!
Can't wait to see the result.

grtz

Hasty ,
The diogroundplate is 100cm x 50cm

JusJus ,

So far the dio took me over one year now to complete.....

For what the detail concerning ....
Just use your inmagination and take a closer look at any picture you can find about retreating troops and equipment.
And examine the nature more closely especially around bridges.......

till later

There was a topic a long time ago, where all were describing what their ultimate dio would be if they had the time, space, money, patience, etc! This reminds of that thread! Its great to see these huge dios. I for one would love to have a centerpiece like this. All the time and effort is paying off now,---- Fantastic dio and looking forward to seeing the full and finished display! Dios like this are memorable and make the normal AFV and figures a little tame looking in comparison. Great work Eric!
