Hi!

Can someone give me a good basecoulor for this uniform to start with. Preferably Vallejo but Tamiya and Humbrol would be ok as well.

Im referring to the classic shorts and shirts worn by the brits.

Cheers

Hi Janne,

I use Tamiya Buff xf 57 but Vajello Buff 70976 seems a good match too.

I'd be interested to see what other use.

You might check this site out http://www.hat.com/ColorsWWII.html

It uses Model Master colors. The listed color is MM Sand 1706. Tamiya Buff, XF-57 is close, or Humbrol Linen 74 or Pale Stone 121.

Hi I have a trunk full of original British KD from WW2 , not a single piece is the same shade or colour . Every colour from Sandy khaki to off white .
So based on this info any sandy khaki will do as a base colour . Remember 99% of judges have never seen let alone touched an original article .
I am researcher and curator to a private museum and work with uniforms most days . cheerrs ian

Thanks for the replies.

I usually make different shades of the uniform pieces but I was looking for a basecolour to start with, darken it, lighten it, adding a tad bit of green depending on the occasion.

Cheers
