Let Me Know What You Think !

Here is the IDF M113 Fitter...

I used the FSM Salt Weathering Technique, I thought it turnd out pretty good...

The only problem I had with the kit was the track, it was a super tight fit and i had to put a few stapels in it. Other then that the kit was pretty fun, and had alot of extra goodies to put on.

Beautiful build. Love the painting, weathering, chipping the total package.

Great Job!

That looks great. I think the salt tech really turned out well. My only suggestion would be to try and put some slack in the tracks. Great job

As I said in other post, awesome! And it turned better with all the weathering and personal touches youŽve gave to it.
I can foresee a prize winner here! :-)
So, IŽll add some

excellent job, just a shame about the staples, have you considered maybe buying another set or asking on the site to see if anybody has any of the samee in their spares box?

Is this the Academy kit? Didn't it come with both rubber-band and indi. track links? If I were you I would use the indi. tracks as they would certainly correct your model. The current set of tracks on your model kinda ruin an otherwise wonderful job. I really like the chipped paint effect. Nice work.
Here's a pic of the indi. tracks used:

Very good build and I like the weathering.

Re:track sag, try using either the pin technique or the thread technique to make force them to sag.

Re:weathering, my other comment is that perhaps some of the decals be chipped off as well, since it appears that some are over the chipped paint.

Overall, a very good build indeed and very realistic!

BTW, I noticed you stapled the tracks together. Try using either thread and sew it (I did that to my Strv103B tracks) or better yet use chloroform. I used chloroform to solve Dragon's vynil tires problem (the tires split in time, using chloroform welds them back together as if one whole piece). Don't get carried away with the chloroform though, it's quite strong stuff.

Hi Delta, just anote as to why your track might be tight check the position of you arms. You may have mispositioned them I've done numerous fitters including writing an article on three different IDF types. I once plced the arms on the wrong position and had a similiar problem.I'm impressed enough now to try the salt technique. good work

Josh, I love your model. It's a pity for the tracks and I think this model really deserves a new set of them...

Hello, 19Delta, very nice job!!
Too bad of the staples, but a very nice weathering-job. Can You tell me what the salt thing is about?
Keep up the good work,
greetings, John.

Update on My Track Situation. I tried fixing the wheel arms to make sure i had them in the right spot. I ended fubaring up a good portion of them. so after that I tried assemblying the individual tracks, that was a pain in the you know what. Ive put alot of effort into this model to have it end up being fubared. Im alittle upset at myself right now about it, this modeling this is bad for your health.....oh well...

19D, never give up. Mistakes happen all the time. With a little TLC you'll have her looking great. I find that when I'm in a situation like that, I walk away from it for awhile - a day or two, or start another model.
It's all a matter of learning. Heck, I bet that'll never happen again.
I can't count the number of times I've screwed a kit up...

I know how you feel. I've been there, and you have a super model there. But, Ken is right. Learn and move on. And never throw a fubar'd model away. At some point you will probably be inspired to go back and fix it. I've done that too.

Nice work Delta!

You sound alot like me but I try to remind myself to focus on the good things about my work and just learn and move on with the minor imperfections

A very nice job indeed and you should be proud of your accomplishment.

Very nice model indeed, but tracks problem was definitelly caused by the incorrectly installed suspension arms. The vehicle sits way too high above the ground. So correcting the suspesion is a must to achieve correct model look.

Individual link tracks are the way to go, but note that the sag on the picture posted by Kancelot is overdone. I guess someone used one link too many. Correct sag on M113 looks like this:

I checked the suspension arms and I had put them on correctly the first time, I found that out after I broke a few of them in half when trying to take them off of the hull. I have one complete track section complete, ill post pictures shortly..

Hmmm... I have not built my Academy M113 yet, but it is hard to believe that correctly installed suspension arms really look like this in this kit. But if you say so than I guess I'll just try to dry fit them today myself, as soon as I'm back home from work, and I'll see what can be done to correct this problem...

Update on my Track Situation...

I assembled the individual tracks and they fit perfectly! and the suspension arms are in the correct spot, its the rubber tracks that are goofed up.
