Hi,
I just received* my Legend M1Accessory Set for my M1A1 project. It doesn't contain any information on the contents so I'm wondering what are all of those parts. Has anyone used this kit and know what the contents are supposed to be?
I only recognize the CIP IFF panels, and jerry cans. Of particular interest is a single photoetched piece of brass that I have no clue what it is nor where to install it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Cipher
* FYI... I ordered this and a replacement barrel for the M1A1 last Monday (June 30) and received it by Friday (July 4). Incredible turnaround. Thanks Barrel Store.

Okay, the PE piece is for the original mount for the Hoffman device, a training device that simulates the main gun going off. Since the spotlight is never used, the hoffman device has been relocated to above the gun mantlet. There are parts to make the rest of the hoffman device, they look like several small tubes grouped together in two pieces. The big angled box is a turret mounted APU. There are CVC's and regular brain buckets. There are four ammo cans to mount on the back of the turret bustle for storage. There are also numerous .50 cal and 7.62mm ammo cans. There are various ammo tubes also for storage. The big round poles are for a towing harness. There are a couple tent bags, long round canvas bags. There is also a PRC backpack radio for the heck of it I guess. And there are three ammo crates for the main guns ammo. These would not be used to store ammo, but might be nice to crew junk in in dry weather. And finally there is a sprue with track link connectors and center links. Did I miss anything?

Uhhh... Wow!
All of a sudden I feel overwhelmed. #:-)
That's a lot of stuff. So from your description, if I were to build a M1A1 in a combat situation, I would not need any of the parts that make up the Hoffman device. Is that correct?
So all of the other parts would just be cool "stuff" to enhance what crews would hang off the turret?
Are there good pictures of the various pieces of equipment you listed off?
Thanks,
Cipher

Correct, the Hoffman Device is just a big flash/bang device to simulate tank main gun fire during war games....if I were to build a M1A1 in a combat situation, I would not need any of the parts that make up the Hoffman device. Is that correct?

This might help , this is a m1a2 at NTC with a hoffman device attached .The black box on the turret right rear looks like a exaust deflector used when towing another tank
this is a overhead view of my tank ,the tarp covering the blow out pannels would be a no-no in combat this pic was taken during TT 8 gunnery -note the single 40mm ammo box attached to the bustle rack
