Hey, what color was the primer on the SU-85M?

Or, what would be a good primer color? I am going to try the salt technique on it and I have been unable to find any info on the color of the primer.-H

Hi Steve,
Don't know if this will help but the SU 76 at Bovington has original WW2 paint and where it's chipped it's a red lead primer underneath. More of an orange that red but faded over the years I guess. I don't think you will get a much better colour idea than this albiet a 76.
