Read a comment in another forum to the effect that Alclad II can be applied to bare plastic, and the black undercoat isn't really necessary. Has anyone done this?? I've a mind to buy a bottle just to see if it's true. . .

In my experience, most folks who use Alclad tend to apply a primer coat. Generally gloss black that has been allowed to cure and harden.
