I bought M1078 LMTV from Trumpeter. Is it possible to convert this version to gun truck ? I want to make version with add-on steel plates around the cab but I can't find any pictures with modified cargo back.

It's the RADIAN Armor Crew Kit (RACK) cab. There are a few pics in Tankograd's "Armored/Gun Trucks of the US Army in Iraq" showing a RACK-fitted M1078 cargo bed equipped with armor plates similar to those added to early Vietnam guntrucks.

Trumpeter are working on two versions with the armored cab. So, it's a matter of waiting for them.

I have pics of them somewhere. I'll post them wjen I find them.

Hope they release them soon!

The first one is BAE's Low Signature Armored Cab (LSAC) kit and the second one is the Radian kit. These are both slated to be replaced by the LTAS kits.

if you wait trumpeter is releasing an armored cab version of that same truck with a cun mount on top of the cab also in the works is a armored cab version of the M1083 5 ton truck

Its always a good idea to actually read old threads before blindly posting to them. Usually, the info was given or the question answered already. That's usually why the thread has no replies in 18 mos.

ok, I read all through this topic because it was at the top of the list of active topics. Since it has been resurrected anyways, have the kits been released? I will be conucting a search of the forum, but figured to ask since this is here.

I just have to have that first Trumpeter Armored Cab truck. I thought I would be able to scratch build one but now that they will be out with these two soon, I'll just wate and buy them and save my self some time. Thanks for posting.

I just wish they go ahead and release the M1083 & the trailer
now. Maybe they will also make the M1095 dual axal trailer.

and i cant wait for both either they are supposed to do an un armored cab of the ton also

I know digging up old threads may bother some here, but has there been any news on the above mentioned Trumpeter releases? Besides the two uparmored variants, wasn't there at least a regular M1083 on the board? I feel like they all but disappeared since last year, any news Gino?

Hi Lucas,

I spoke with my contact at Trumpeter about the M1083 5-ton variant. All he replied was "that they are in tooling". Perhaps Trumpeter has so many models
in the making that they have to set priorities (ASU-85, BTR-60). I hope that Trumpeter uses the chance to correct the flaws of the M1078 kit. I also told my contact that the CAIMAN MRAP is based on the M1083. Let`s hope he gets the idea.
