I am looking for someone who has the First Gear 1/34 F250 die-cast truck. I am thinking of getting one and making it into a Private Security Contractor truck in Iraq. Any opinions on details, does it have any type of underside details, etc.? Any opinions would be helpful.

It scaled out far better than the NewRay 1/32 F350, which I originally purchased before the First Gear one. I did a quick commission job using the First Gear truck and leftover parts from Vajra. The interior isn't too bad, but know there are no front windows, so you're going to see everything inside unless you go through the trouble of fabbing up some windows. The painted seatbelts are going to need improvement, and the instrument panel wasn't that convincing. The doors do not open, however, the tailgate does lower. Honestly, I'd say plunk down the money and get the Vajra kit -
a. You get a LOT more for your money
b. It is VERY well engineered
and c. I seem to remember someone be quite vocal about die-casts being nothing more than toys...

Yup, that was me, and I still stand by that. I was referring to prebuilt and prepainted armor, such as the Forces of Valor junk being displayed as is. I would be completely disassembling, stripping and rebuilding this one though.

We'll see, I can get it pretty cheap and it doesn't sound too bad. I probably will get it and see how it is myself. Thanks for the info.

Have you thought about the 1/32 Tamiya F-350? I was looking at combining the body with some vajra bits and some sheet styrene to make an ambulance.

I didn't know Tamiya did a 1/32 F350. Do you have a link or any pics of it?

I have F250 from First Gear 1/34 scale. I think that this model is nice after small update looks very good.
I think that Vajra is rebuild this DIecast because many part is very similar.

OK, now I am following. I would be leary of it though. Most of their "1/32" motorized series isn't 1/32 at all. They all have the same chasis and wheels and are built to fit that.


I'll let you guys know how the First Gear one looks when I get it.

Seemingly not same type model, also apparent differences in the details and size.

Like I said, go with the Vajra kit. It is definitely the better value.

Good to know. I had their 32nd Unimog and it looked workable. LM has the F350 for $9, so if it is not useable its not a huge loss. I'd like to get the Vajra one, but I'd be cutting away about 40% of the kit.

Sorry, but I don't see how the Vajra one is the better value when it is over 5 times what I will spend if I go with the First Gear truck and a little scratch building to make my own Guntruck. The math doesn't work for me. I can't justify spending that much on a pickup truck model.
