Hi By the look it is the Atomic cannon , not certain of is M number but rare photos indeed , cheers ian

No, the M65 Atomic Annie was a Pentomic Army (1950's Nuclear Army) weapon. It was first fielded in 1952 and was retired in '63. It was designed to fire nuclear rounds in Europe to fight off the Soviet hordes as they streamed across the German plains.

Sounds like he went to Normandy a few years after D-Day.
