Any suggestions where can I find some source for white lettering (decals or dry transfers) to make US Army id numbers (bumper numbers and US Army lettering and numbers) in Vietnam era format for 1/35 vehicles? I've found some decal/transfer sets, but they all had the WWII style lettering...
I think Verlinden offered such dry transfer set once, but these are OOP now.
I have no problem with more modern US bumper numbers as they are black on light background, and I can easilly print them on my inkjet printer and just paint tan background, but white letters and numbers are not possible to get from my printer.

Try ordinary dry transfers. Find the ones with the proper or approximate dry transfers. 2 ways of applying them:
1) straight, direct method
2) indirect method, i.e. apply dry transfers on blank decal paper, then cut out area, then apply as decal.

Yes, I checked Archer, but they concentrate on WWII stuff. They have some interesting modern transfers for OIF Abrams, also KFOR and SFOR markings, but only one stencils set for post war vehicles (AR35001W). Bumper numbers can be made with this set, but not US ARMY registration numbers...

Using the dry-transfer sets available at better office supply stores worked well for my numbers. I used clear decal film for a backing, and lightly traced a pencil line for a straightedge to line up the characters. The different colors and sizes worked well for me, as VN era numbers were standardized, and even came as vinyl stick on sets from the Self Service Supply Centers. Even the Military Police signs (rectangular for windshield mount and circular for 1/4 ton spare tires) came as one piece items, made life a lot easier for us.
The size of the bumper markings sometimes depended on the unit designation. Case in point was Second Armored Division, 1st Bn, 50th Mech Infantry on one side, then C Co or CSC with individual vehicle number on the other. The small flat areas on the front/rear of the M113 didn't leave a lot of room, and the size would decrease to fit he required information.
