I was wondering if the German's painted their artillery in Red Primer?
88's 2 CM 20 MM and such.

Hi,
yes the guns were primed with the "red" primer. The machine cannons 2cm etc were finished in "blued" metal.

Yes the Germans used the appropriate primer for the time period but only on the carriage and nounts. The barrels were not primed in this fashion.Flak guns up to 50mm were blued steel but all other weapons (with the exception of the 20mm in a Panzer II which was blued steel )were painted in a very dark grey thermal paint.
