Hi Guys,

Well this summer seems to have turned into a figure one. To go with my Airborne Mortar Crew I'll be adding this set as the retreating troops.

More later.

Al

Edit: Apologies I put this in the wrong forum, could someone move it to the Figures Forum if possible, my mind was on Shermans!!!

Hi Guys,

Well I amde a bit of a start on these chaps, not as much done this week as I would like but...

The figures

Progress so far

Might use a bandaged head on one of the bearers for a bit more variety.
Apologies for the pics a bit dark.

It was these two pictures that got me interested in the sets.

Hi Tony,

Good luck with the job hunting, I hope something comes off. It is a difficult time.

Yip, IWM. Look under Operation Market Garden or Arnhem. There is quite a lot of footage of the landings.

Remember to wait for a good exchaneg rate lol, lol, which alwasy helps.

If you are interested in the campaign then there are two cracking books from the Then and Now Series simpley entitled Operation Market Garden. They are expensive 24/30 pounds but if you are going down the airbiorne road then they are brillient.

Cheers

Hi Randy,

Thanks, almost finished the 3rd bearer. I may replace part of the stretcher handles with brass rod for extra strength but there is time enough for that yet.

Cheers

Good stuff Alan. Ive only got a few resicast figures, and if these are simialr in quality, they should be a treat to paint. Details are nicely defined. Are these for a small project or are all these recent models still for your huge dio?

Hi Frank,

Thanks. These are for a small project, I thought I could combine the stretcher team retreating under covering fire of the mortat crew, a bit of both pics above.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Latest progress on the set. I'm almost finished the 3rd bearer. I decided to add 4 small metal rods to the stretcher and drill into the bearers hands so that when the set gets fixed to the dio it will have more strength. This also allows a bit more flexibility when coming to position the fgures.

As you can see there is a slight issue with the 3rd bearer, and I have his foot on a bit of raised ground to even him out. Whether this is my building, the use of the brass rods for the stretcher handles or whatever, sitting on the flat wasn't really working. It's not a major problem, on the dio they will be crossing a muddy track so they will be plenty of time to get the setting correct, but again another reason for using brass handles on the stratcher.

A bit more painting and finishing off do do, the the results so far are pretty good - I think?
