I have long wanted to make a diorama of the last tank battle of World War Two on Shimushu Island in Japan. However, I have since found it nearly impossible to find much information on the island itself despite a lot of searching. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Of course I have. Unfortunately I could find no physical description of Shimushu Island, unless I happened to look in the wrong spot.

it may be that it has changed its name since the war !! may be worth looking for a renaming !!
or indeed it may be known by a totaly difrent name to that given it in the battle !!

google " shimushu kuril islands " plenty of maps / pictures etc it is in the north of the kuril islands

Shimushu Island is part of the Kuril group of islands. If you do a google image search for Kuril Islands you'll get lots of images
