All the ones I ever dealt with wre sort of a medium to dark greenish color when all rolled up. Unfolded, they hadstrips of vinyl like material in with some medium brown and a couple of shades of green. The netting itself was also a sort of medium green

Often in rear areas, when not engaged in an active theatre, we sometimes use white winter cam nets. The theory being that the white cam nets prevent accumulation of heat beneath the tents. Of course I'm talking about peacekeeping and similar operations, not war.

The best way to simulate camo nets is to get your hands on some cheese cloth. Roll it up and soak in diluted white glue. Once dry, paint it a medium brown color and dry brush with a couple different shades of green for a woodland net. For a desert net, paint light tan and dry brush with sand and dark brown. For winter, paint white and drybrush with a couple shades of green. All that is left is to strap it to the vehicle.

If you want to build the actual net then I would follow HeavyArty's advice. If you want to paint the bag that the nets come in then you will want a dark tan with darker tan straps for Desert nets. If it is a woodland net then the bag would be dark green. The bag for the net poles is kind of a field drab color. I think I have some pictures of the bags themselves form when I was in the Army. I will try and find them and post the scans.
