I've been reading that Seafoam is great for making Dio foliage, but am having a hard time tracking it down. I've found seeds, but really don't want to grow it & a website called scenic express selling it as "supertrees", but I'd imagine It can be found cheaper. Anyone know? Craftstores maybe? is there another name it could be sold as? Thanks.

Scenic express in the US. Look under Super Trees as that is the sea foam. I just bought the Super Trees kit but have not used yet. You can purchase just the sea foam as the Super Trees though.

Sea foam or as its named Sea Moss Forest trees in the UK is available in the from "Great North Roads" web address http://www.greatnorthroads.co.uk/
a supplier of diorama buildings and accesories, cost of £12.00. I have a box and have had for several years, and have used it to make trees (See his gallery photo DSCF1323.jpg KV1) this is one of my models. I have used it on numnerous occasions and still have loads left to make trees and hedges with. The kit comes complete with everything you need to create the trees.
Hopefully of some use to you.

Happy tree and hedge building

Thanks for the info, but I'm looking for somewhere in the U.S. (South Florida if it's a store).

Have a look in a model railway store - that's where I found mine. I think I bought the Scenic Express box, but shop around. I later found that I could have bought 10 times the amount for a tenth of the price through a lesser known brand - don't ask me the name of the brand, I honestly don't recall.

I checked my one LHS & they didn't have it. That's part of the problem is it seems to have multiple names & I haven't seen it with my own eyes to know it if I saw it at a craft store or what-not. Thanks & if you happen to remember the name of the brand let me know.

I really do need to make a clear distinction between your run of the mill LHS (i.e. plastic kits, RC, etc) and a specialist model railway store.

None of the 10+ LHSs I visited in either (Cape Town) South Africa or (Melbourne) Australia kept sea foam, however of the 4 specialist model railway stores I visited (1 in South Africa, 3 in Oz), the 3 in Oz all keep it.

Here's an example: http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=GM195&style=main&strType=
I'd recommend emailing Gaugemaster and enquiring if they have a US supplier.

I've got 2 LHSs & 1 is split between RC/trains with a small % of models. The other is mainly models & RC with a small train section. That link was actually very helpfull. Gave me a pretty good visual of what it is exactly that i'm looking for. I did some online hunting & it seems that Woodland Scenics has entered the fray for these types of trees & released their own to compete with scenic express & their supertrees. But the price still seems high. they look like something you'd find at a big craft supply store, but so far no luck on that (tried Michaels & AC moore here in south florida). I know the one LHS that deals with a lot of trains carries the woodland scenics brand, so maybe they'll have this now. Thanks again.

Heki also do sea foam - although being German they call it "seemoos"

Seemoos Großpackung

This is the large box, hence the above average price. That said, seafoam isn't typically cheap anyway.

Hi,

Could you possibly tell me of a store that sells seafoam trees in Australia? I live in Sydney but if you know of anywhere in Australia then that should be fine.

Thank you!
