Hello!

1st post!!

Have aquired the DML IS-2 re-released as a part of the cyberhobby orange box set.

I'm interested in building a post war variant...was hoping that someone had some detail photos/drawings of the DSHK HMG mount on the commander's cupola??

Thank you!!

I've looked through what few reference materials I have regarding post-war Soviet stuff, and haven't turned up anything.

I will keep an eye peeled, though!

TAHK or Tank figures sell a couple IS2-3 kits with mounts, I believe. Not sure if they would work for postwar, but take a look.

Regretably, Model Point doesn't carry it...who else distributes Tank products??

I believe The Barrel Store carries what you're looking for.

My skills are lame at best...and rusty after a long, long hiatus from any building...though I hope to improve them. I also need much work on weathering techniques. My tools are rather basic at this point as well.

I first decided to begin with a Tamiya IS-3; but while looking for misc in the local shops, I stumbled into the Cyber-Hobby orange box kit of the DML IS-2...so I bought that one too. That habit sounds familiar at least...though I'm tying to be disciplined as I concentrate on just these two for the fall/winter. Though there is that nice looking ISU-152 and I've always liked SU-100's...seems like that premium re-release is hard to get though...thank God!

I have some good reference on the way...as well as the Eduard basic sets for each vehicle...I also broke down and got the IS-2 fender set.

I really enjoy the reference and research, even without building.

Pro's and con's so far:

The IS-3 is a beauty...but has open sponsons...the Eduard fender kit would seem to fix that...but then you are building an IS-3M...I wanted an early post war variant. Sheet styrene and putty!!

The IS-2 seems to have the roadwheels at too small a diameter...Fruilmodel has a set, or a fix with .020 strips. Research ongoing to see whether any of this early variant of IS-2 with the stepped glacis made it post war or not.
