Noticed that MB are planning modern figures, they are Set 1 US Forces and Set 2 Insurgents. As detailed in there "In Progress" Section. Great news, cant wait to see these in the flesh so to speak.

OOHHHHHH, thanks for the heads up Paul, lets just hope they include m4 carbines, they just look so cool. The figures look promising as well.

WOW! Great news indeed. I've always wished that Masterbox or Miniart would do some modern figures. Can't wait!

With regards to the poses of the US figure sets, they are nice. Everything else just looks wrong. Sometimes this makes me wonder if these kit designers even do serious research.
I truly hope these are just test shots, because the helmets, boots, rifles, and gear are all crappy looking. I'd rather pay $20 for one good resin figure than settle for bird doodoo.
Again, I hope this is not what the end product looks like.
The insurgent figures, well, they look alot better. Easier to be creative with those guys as they don't require any forthought.

I think that Masterbox are really filling a niche (Modern figures) in the market that other companies, with the exception of Trumpeter, have neglected.
I will get the WWII Russian set....as for me...the events of Iraq and Afghanistan are just too close to home to model right now. Maybe in a few years when this war (hopefully) is over.. I'll create a diorama to honor my friends and family who served there.
I'm really not in to modern subjects but I do like the poses of the US and insurgent figures.
I like the way that Masterbox produces "concept" sets that can be used together in a diorama.
In the past...with the glut of German figures on market ....you would think that they fought the war by themselves....Masterbox and Mini Art and even DML have started to correct this in recent years. Enough rambling....Congratulations Masterbox. You are heading in the right direction.

I just realized that it doesn't actually say "US Soldiers", all it says is "Iraq Kit 1", so could they possibly be Polish soldiers or something like that? It's just that Masterbox is not known to make such blatant mistakes in their figures. What do you guys think?

Certainly not Polish and I'm afraid that these were supposed to be US troops...I just realized that it doesn't actually say "US Soldiers", all it says is "Iraq Kit 1", so could they possibly be Polish soldiers or something like that?

It's too bad if Masterbox starts making mistakes that are so obvious
Let's hope they fix them up before releasing them.

The bodies themselves actuall look ok, the IBA's look very well sculpted and nicely detailed as do the rest of their bodies. The problems lie in the equipment in my opinion. But to my eyes the helmets look like the ones included in the DML modern Marines set, and therefore could be in place just on these test shots. The other weapons also look like they are from DML, if you comare them to DML weapons you will see they are almost identical. This I hope means they are just in place at the test stage and will be replaced with better ones in the final production.
I think on the whole these are good figures, with good sculpting and good poses. I just hope masterbox takes note of our comments are corrects the problems. Perhaps we need some confirmation that they are seeing these comments and we can provide some solid information to help improve them.
