Hi everyone (again)
I have a question on a specific color I am hoping someone can help me with.
I am starting to work on an F4U corsair. One of the main interior colors is 'yellow zinc chromate' I usually like to use Model Master paints of which they have a 'chrome yellow'
This is probably a dumb question but are these basically the same color or does the word zinc mean that it has a tint of some other color in it? I am not a real stickler for having the exact authentic color but I do like to get as close as I can when I can.
Thanks again for all your help,
Wayne

Wayne, I do not know the specifics of the "zinc" on the color name.
But, Testors sells Yellow Zinc Chromate, and calls it Zinc Chromate in their 1/4 ounce enamal offerings. It is # 1184.
Yellow Zinc Chromate is available as an acrylic from Testors Model Master Acryl # 4851.

Chrome Yellow is a bright, glossy orangy yellow (abpout the color of the "submit" button) used on the wings of Army and Navy aricraft in the 1930's. It is not at all close to "yellow zinc chromate". That would be a greenish tinged very flat yellow. Most references list "zinc chromate green" which is a yellowish, not ver attractive flat green primer color, not far from the green in this icon's hat.

Thanks for the help guys. I would have been way off base with the chrome yellow.
I'll go out and get the correct color now.
