Hello,
at the moment I am working on the M1025 (No. 263 AC) which provides intake and exhaust parts in MC style.
The instruction even depicts an USMC (M1025) vehicle deployed with the 8th Marines Regiment to Kosovo in June 1999.
But: Have M1025s ever been supplied to the USMC ?
I am refering in particular to the X-style doors supplied with this kit which should have a plain surface (USMC).

There is no mention of the M1025/M1026 in the USMC's TM 11240-15/4B, Motor Transport Technical Characteristics Manual, dated August 1994 or in the updated TM 11240-15/4C, dated July 2002.
There is at least this picture of what appears to be a USMC M1043/M1044, and otherwise similar to the one in the instructions (the Getty image being dated June 1999). It seems reasonable that they saw this picture or others like it with the doors obscured and assumed it was the same vehicle.

The tamiya TOW version has the plain doors and I'm pretty sure I have an unused set in the spares box. PM me an address if you're interested Marco....

The link here will answer your questions:
http://books.google.com/books?id=RU8d4THS5YUC&pg=PA9&lpg=PA9&dq=marine+m1025&source=bl&ots=7V9T-NPUg9&sig=n1fw5oIRbZx4_yFxgbUWYZ2psE4&hl=en&ei=oVzySoyNFIWuswPS7tkO&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CBoQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=marine%20m1025&f=false
Per text there, the Marine version of the M1025 was called the M1043 and had a 'supplemental' armor configuration with the 'flat' doors that you mentioned. The text additionally states that the 'X' doors were only on 'basic armor' US Army M1025's.
So, to build a Marine M1043, you would need the flat doors from the M1046 TOW HMMWV.
