I've officially given in. As much as I would hate to say it but I got bit by the Leopard bug. After all the talking with people such as Miloslav and Chris I couldn't resist buying a kit and now it's on the way

Here is the photo which really did it for me:

In conjunction with my Challenger 2 Operation Telic build I will be building a Polish Leopard 2A4. I really would like to replicate the camo netting and weathering effect seen during training exercises. I have the kit on the way along with a Real Model aftermarket set. However I am having trouble tracking things down.

I can't find: Echelon Decals: Leopard 2 Fearsome Cats of European Nations (out of production )

AFV Club or Bronco Tracks
I'm not sure if the barrel depot L44 barrel works but I would love to use a metal barrel

Anywho, thats all for now. I will update with pictures as soon as I get the things needed. Also, does anyone have a spare suspension alignment tool that comes with the Tamiya kit? This would be very helpful once I start the build.

Hi Sean

For the camo net you could try this
http://www.plasticwarfare.se/?p=183
you could try accurate armour here in the UK for the decals

Or try e bay i have seen them on there from time to time.

Looking forward to seeing some in progress shots

I'll look. I have some on watch now but I think I will leave the track till the end when the painting phase comes about. This may be one of those instances where I may try and build a kit in a week. We shall see

If you need some more Leo 2A4 photos let me know as I spent some time at the Polish Armoured School when I was there for 5 weeks....

Cheers

I'd like to see them as well unless you plan on submitting them to Prime Portal or something similar.

Thanks,
Paul

He Sean,

looks like U found yourself a very interesting subject.
Do yourself a favor and get this book from TANKOGRAD to start with, for general and polish specific insights on the Leo 2.

The link Harald posted leads to the premier website for anything Bundeswehr (if you're not aware of it): http://www.panzer-modell.de/

I'd visit there for many of my Bundeswehr fix.

The second site I'd recommend would be Prime Portal: http://www.primeportal.net/ but I'd think you are already aware of it since the image you've posted is found there as well.

cheers! :-)

Sorry for the very long delay. I was working on the MGS for a good portion of the day and decided to start this thing as well.

To be polite, the Hobby Boss kit has some fit issues to say the least. The moulded on detail isn't a plus either, which I started to remove today but its been a real pain so far. So after at least 14 hours of building today I was able to make significant process on two kits. Also, I figured I'd get the bulk of the construction together and sanded so I could avoid loosing PE and scratch details I'll add later. Also, the Real Model update is sweet, I'll show it in more detail as the build goes along.

Here are some photos!

Sean I think you used the wrong rear armor section on the lower hull. The square doors are on the Polish Leos not the rounded ones. I'm not 100% on this so maybe wait here and see what the Leo experts say or check your refs.

you are definitely right. The Real Model update has the square boxes in PE. I'm just waiting until I finish sanding and filling everything. I know if I add them they'd get lost in the carpet haha
