Hi guys ...a buddy without internet is making a base depicting the bocage region during operation Cobra. We are debating a bit as to how wet and muddy it was. I know that the weather wasnt very good during the landings ,with rainfall actually postponing things ...but how wet was the ground during operation Cobra?....was it mostly sunny?

Hey Jim
I'd swing in favour of the weather ground being ok. I know that Operation Cobra was delayed until 'good' weather, but I think this is more for the benefit of the initial saturation bombing from the air, so would be in reference to overcast conditions ie. poor visibility than to actual rainfall.
Any archive photos viewed of July 25 and onwards don't show any wet conditions if I can recall corectly.
Hope this helps
