Has anyone kit bashed a Revell Biber bridgelayer with a M1A1 to get a M104 Wolverine bridgelayer? I just did a quick comparison and the LEGUAN MLC 70 bridge spans would be suitable, but the launching mechanism on the M104 looks completley different.

Heaven forbid I start yet another project, but this one seems interesting. I bought a Biber over the weekend because I just like engineering vehicles. I had to rob it of its bridge though!

That's what I was seeing. The two bridge spans are about all that the two share. Still would save time, being able to get those from a kit.

Quite a bit of scratchbuilding to convert the hull. Worst of all the references on the Wolverine I am finding are hard to come by. I found a very poor quality 3 view drawing that helps, but lacks any real detail or clarity. No walk around photos or details of the launcher with no spans on it.

Funny the Grizzly is cancelled, while a modest number of Wolverines were made. Yet I have more info on the Grizzly.

How about a different approach?
Why not the USMC JAB, with the British system, I know pics are just as rare but there are plenty of the Titan around?
Isn‘t the system used on the Chieftain quite similar?

Cheers
Christopher

Marcel, thank you for the information. The bridges tend to look very similar and I haven't really dove into the details. If I do this, I might go ahead and take liberties with the bridging length. While it will be know to those who frequent Armorama or work with the 1:1 bridglayers, 99.9% of the people who would view my model would never know the difference. Then again, it might bug me enough (as it often does) and I'll do it accurate anyway.

Christopher, the JAB is a great idea, but with only 5 in existance for design evaluations, I think my odds of finding M104 reference material (40 vehicles) might be a tad greater at this point. Based on what I read, it is an significant upgrade to the system used on the current M60 ALVB. One article even mentions the Navy designing a composite bridge that is lighter. longer and with a capacity of up to 85 tons. Very interesting.

Thanks for humoring my wondering.
