Hi everybody!
have seen some time ago a couple of pics of the Stryker with ERA package, in some kind of exhibition or show.
Are there any news about its deployment, or any new images about a "definitive" version???

thanx!!!!

I keep reading that ERA blocks are going to be installed on Strykers but aside from a few pictures from a year ago of some trial versions, I have yet to see ERA installed in the field.

Not sure what the status is at this point. I hope it is soon. I want to do a model of a Stryker in a combat zone but really don't want to spend the money / time on the slat armor.

On a related note, has anyone seen any pictures of Strykers over in Afghanistan? They've been there for a while now (and supposedly are taking some pretty heavy losses). Just wondering if they are in the same configuration as the Iraqi units.

Regards,

John

So looking over the photos and captions it appears that the Stryker modeler now has a choice, slat or no slat armor. Oh the possibilities for the modeler who wants to make an in theater combat Stryker.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

Yeah John, got to wonder if there is a correlation between the losses and lack of slat armor.....

Excellent to see images of the M1134 and the M1128 in Afghanistan without slat armour......only minor additions required now to deploy them deployed.

Yeah Jay I was able to make out some of the additions but stumped on one, a photo that had something added to the front passenger side. Not sure what it is, any idea.

It is some type of antenna for sure....whether it is anti-IED or come other use I don't know. The LAV seems to have multiple antennas and the technology is evolving very quick to make the crews safer.....therefore different antennas.

It is interesting to see the driver's windscreen in place.

I think that is a kinetic energy type tow cable in black attached to the hull side by I am not totally sure.

Actually, if you look at the high res version of the image of the Strykers in the all round defence outside the village you will see that the M1134 and another Stryker have slat fitted only to the rear doors. The M1128 does not have any slat on the rear doors.

The black wiring harness on the side looks like a slave cable (heavy duty jumper cable).

If you go to the site link Frenchy provided and look at the high res version of the image that Joe posted you can tell it is not a slave cable....it is attached via a large D ring to the lower hull tie down.
