Hi George
Sturmgeschutz crews were issued with panzer uniforms in reed green/field grey rather than the panzer divisions usual black.
Usually they would wear the 'forage cap' but often Stug commanders would be found wearing helmets for protection during combat.
Hope that helps,
James

Field grey would be appropriate - of the top of my head IIRC reed green was a later addition. Piping would most likely be red in the case of a sturmgeschutz battery, however I'm guessing this could vary on which division they were assigned to. IIRC there was an ongoing debate as to wether Stug batteries were panzers or artillery.
I'm guessing you're building the Tamiya kit? Please post your progress, or a link if you've already got a blog going, as I've got the same kit lined up

Hi George
I guess they would be dressed something like these. As Ron Volstad did the artwork you can be sure it was well researched.
I've got exactly the same kit Stug kit as you. It's Italeri's re-boxing of the Dragon kit and in many ways is just as good as the newer Tamiya kit.
If your interested Terry Ashley did a comparison of the two. I'd buy either but I ended up with the Italeri at a good price with PE sets off of ebay.

Field Gray woolen uniforms (Reed Green was the color of the cotton summer fatigues issued later in the war). Red collar piping, as they were deemed part of the artillery branch (panzer troops wore pink piping).
