I have purchased figures from Alpine and tamiya and was wondering how verlinden figures look as far as detail etc.

Hi
I'd be more worried about height differences. I've never brought Verlinden figures but heard comments about them being more 1/32 than 1/35. I don't know if this is across the board or just certain figures.

I have bought the US Tank crew in Iraq, I think for detail they are not bad at all. However with a hornet head they could be better. As for height I can't seem to spot the difference that much. But if you go into a room of people I bet you have several height sizes.

I have purchased some modern firures with all the manufactures named. Alpine figures are excellent. Verlinden figures can be simplified but are still good. Although they are all 1/35 scale Tamiya figures tend to be smaller that the others, i don't think they would mix with Alpine or Verlinden although theses two would work OK together. Details on the more recent figures Tamiya figures is better.

Hi,
i have nearly all of their modern or Vietnam Figures. I think the older ones from the 90īs (Desert Storm etc.) are very good and show why Verlinden was one of the best in the past. Especially their older Figures (especially WW2) are very good and have fine Details. Itīs true that they are more 1/32 than 1/35. The most Problem are the heads if you want to use them with Dragon Figures. The Problem is more if you place them near Dragon or Tamiya ones. They looks much bigger. I grow up with Verlinden Figures and still love their old Products. The modern ones are sometimes a shame if i remember on their quality in the past. All Verlinden does now is put old parts in new sets ant the pose of some is freaky. The Navy Seals set or the M1A1 crews are good but the weapons are very bad and false. But you can even see on the box art cover if itīs good or not. Now we have manufactures like Alpine which are now the leaders and so you have pay the price for two Verlinden ones to get one from Alpine. But i think you get the best quality for that money. The advantage of Verlinden ones is that you can easily change all parts and create complete new Figures. I would buy the conversion sets from Verlinden because you get more for your money and itīs a good start for conversions. Their WW2 German winter conversion set is great. For the price you get only two Figures you get four Figures, eight heads or so etc.
Like the others said you get better Figures today from Dragon or Tamiya than the newer ones from Verlinden. Their new Vietnam Line for example is a joke. All are old Figures with some modifications like new heads and arms and the new LSSC boat is an 1:1 copy from Dragon in resin with some old parts as extra. Thatīs a great shame.
Regards
Stefan

Verlinden are a very mixed bag.
Some really good stuff (mainly older sets), and other stuff that's truly horrendous (gawky poses, grotesque faces etc.). And as others have said, they might not groove too well alongside figures form other manufacturers.
Verlinden used to be the market leader, but has lost the plot somewhat in recent years.

I always have the feeling with Verlinden figures that the sculptor who made them likes breakdancing. All their figures "in action" for some reason look a bit funny

In general, Verlinden's older WW2 German figures are very good but there are some odd ones with strange postures. Some sample below for your references.

Thanks for the info. I think i will stick with the alpine, and dragon figures for now. I have been looking at these manufacturers: soldati, yosci, s&t wolf, warrior, & new world miniatures. If anyone has any advice on these manufacturers i would like to hear it.
thanks for the replys.

I have been using Verlinden figures for many years as well. In the past they offered better figures than were available from the big manufacturers. Today, not so much, but they offer a figure "parts" set for just about any theater/period that may be worth your while.
Since the new owners of Verlinden have taken the reins, everything is being re-issued. This is good news for us modelers. Sets like the German Shepard dogs and many of the stowage sets are priced affordably, and lets face it, you can only roll a blanket so many ways.
Hope this helps,
Mark L.

I think you're confusing Verlinden Productions for The VLS Corporation, the latter which Squadron bought from Bob Letterman.

I am wondering if the heads from warrior figures will fit and look proportioned correctly on a dragon or tamiya figure?

Used verlinden figures over many years and they had been the market leaders in
resin figures in the late eightees.
Verlinden are no comparison to Alpine figurines.
The resin quality from the 2 companies is not the same and I think its all down to the imagination of what a modeller can do with Verlinden figurines .

The guy reading the paper looks OK, but his buddy with the wine bottle is odd, also the running US soldiers. The running medic looks very strange as a runner but seems he can be used climbing onto or off of a vehicle instead. Far as the different sizes of figures it seems to me that since people come in all sizes that unless it is really overdone, it should not matter much. My nickles worth. Price of stuff is going up.

Hello,
I have purchased only one Verlinden set (2277 / US Tanker Crew Iraq).
It is good but I was missing the microphones, which even the Tamiya figures have got.
Therefore I also bought a head set (HUH 07) by Hornet.
Below you can see the differences of the heads (the light one on the left side is the Hornet head).

Thanks for the comparison. The Hornet head looks much better, way more detail, clearer looking. I have Alpine figures but never really purchased any other manufacturer so i have nothing to compare.

Just to add something further....
Warriors figures are very good as well and some of the old Jaguar sets are good especially the Schwimmwagen set that copies the Peiper photo.
I also agree the old Verlinden sets are good, I have several of those. I don't know about their newer sets, haven't bought resin figures for years...
I have the old Verlinden Kubelwagen set and it's much bigger than Dragon or Tamiya...they just look odd next to them especially the heads/helmets, much bigger but comparable to some Warriors.
One thing about the old Verlinden sets though is they are very clean castings with almost no flash, holes, bubbles etc.
Hope this all helps...Paul
