Does anybody have some good tips in painting (airbrushing) this color and getting a good consistent coverage. I'm using MM Acrylic currently but will probably try enamel to see how that does as well. Thanks.

What I'd counsel is to have a good light color underneath.
If you try to overspray black green by yellow, you'll have a very hard time.
If you prime, then spray yellow, it should be OK. Then you mask the yellow and you can work on the other colors.
It will probably help if you have a well thinned paint. That's because you need to spray a very thin cover of paint. That way, you can build it up slowly, by overspraying, and overspraying...
The paint I used for the yellow on the "miles magister" is gunze acrylics.

Not to be a broken record, but I'm gonna echo Penpen. Good primer coat and spray first if you can.
The yellow nose on my BfB entry was the second color. I primed, then did all over Hellblau then the Gelb. Using MM Acryl, I put 3 coats of Gelb to get the coverage I was looking for.

Hi Tin Can
Yellow is one of the most difficult colours to apply because it has very little "covering power". To get a really intense yellow, apply it over a white undercoat. When it comes to pre-shading, I use a dark brown - black seems to make the yellow look green.
Do remember though... most references indicate that Gelb 04 was actually a rather "dirty", ochre-ish colour - not like Allied "Chrome Yellow", so "bright" may not neccessarily be right...
Hope this helps

Just a side comment to Rowan. If you mix black and yellow you get olive drab. So black pre-shading would indeed make yellow look green. Good eye for color!

Thanks for all the responses. I've been experimenting with the Gelb and am starting to get some better results. I just want to get it down before applying to a model.
I agree with Rowan that it should not be a bright yellow but more of a subdued, 'grungy' looking yellow.
