I just responded to another tread on this site discussing the disappearance of the Humvee from the recent Tamiya catalogue listings.
Further to this I have been prompted to start another discussion to gauge just how many of us Modern Modellers would like to see a new updated Humvee kit released in plastic. Maybe this tread could provide the manufactures with the market research to help them see that a kit like this would be a market winner in this current economic environment.
I note that an innovative company are currently releasing some excellent resin update sets for the Tamiya kit. Whilst these are to be welcomed they are very expensive. About £25 for the Kit and £60 for the update makes an excellent but very expensive model.
I am of the opinion that there would be a market for an updated 1/35 scale Humvee. I think with carefully planning a seemingly endless series of kits could be developed based on the same basic model. Think of the recent themes, for particular WW2 vehicles, 3in1 kits, and the Stryker models.
So come on guys lets respond to this discussion and hopefully we can make it one of the biggest topics ever on Armourama.

The current Tam kit is still widely available. I've picked up more than 6 of them in the past 4 months or so. I still see them at most online stores and LHS. I don't believe there is a shortage, just stingy wallets.

I completely agree, with all the HMMVW variants out there, some company needs to pick up the slack.

I would agree as well, maybe dragon or tamiya could make a Hmmwv kit with optional parts and interchangeable weapons, more of like a 3 in 1 DML kit. It would be great if they put in m240s with thermal scopes or OIF crew figures and weapons/gear

I'm totally with you Cookie.
I just completed a humvee from Tamiya and scatch built the updated armor on the turret because I will not pay the equivilent or more than the kit for a conversion kit.The last updated kit was from Academy and I'm very suprised that no one else picked up their lead.
I know Trumpeter monitors this site and don't understand why others don't.
My faith has totally gone to Trumpeter and with their many versions of the LAV I would'nt be suprised to see them come out with a humvee series.
They may just be a little backed up with all they've already been doing for us modern armor modellers.

I'd buy that.

I currently have about 11 HMMWV variants planned. I have about 13 HMMWV kits in the stash. A significant majority are Tamiya kits. If Dragon came out with a 3 in 1 kit, it would be a home run and I would buy several.
