Oh now we're getting ambitious eh? Mark it was all I could do to build this OOB! It is a fine little kit.
Looking good so far!
I have developed a fondness for this scale, and will attempt another.

Nice touches of detail wing_nut, especially the distressed muffler. Can't wait to see more. BTW, what kit is it?

Building is basically done at this point. The improvements made are new tow pintles pins, springs for the rear mud guards, new grab handles on the turret and replacing the molded in handle next to the spare road wheel rack, headlight wiring, smoke launchers and a new reflector on the rear mud guard. Hopefully I will get the first coats of paint down tonight. The extra armor on the front by the MG and vision port is not really an improvement. The kit comes with a choice of parts and I used the wrong one so I had to make the armor.

Lookin' good Mark!
I also used the wrong part up front, but I fudged it.

Where'd you get that TC? He looks cool up there.

Marc,
Your coming along nicely on this build. Good to see a figure on that early G. And thanks for pointing out your modifications to this kit.

Looking great so far !!!
I guess the TC is from Preiser, but I have my doubts about the headgear. This type of beret disappeared after the fall of France, and by the time the Ausf.G appeared, I don't think it was used, even sporadically.
(Meant as constructive criticism !

)

Marc, can't wait to see this one progress. You are setting the bar pretty high after that beautiful half-track build you did this past summer.

G, thanks. Rob is correct, the fig is a Preiser. Great figs in this scale.
Eddy, Thanks for comments and having a look.
Rob, Thanks for the correction. Like Wayne said to Alice Cooper, “I was not aware of that.” I picked that one because of the goggle. There was another in there with a cap.
Jan, Thanks, appreciate the comment.
I tried some color modulation but the pics are a little dark and it does not show up too well but it looks pretty good. I sprayed with a couple of filter coats of the lightened base color to pull it all togther. Better pics when it’s done.

Hello Marc,
Love the build! You've done a great job! The only question I have is how were the tracks? I know they can be long on some of the Dragon kits and looks like you've handled them well. How did you get them to look so nice? Did you glue them around the drive sprocket and return roller? any hints?
Best,
Walter

Walter
Thanks very much for the comments
I found the tracks in this kit top be just a tiny bit too short. They went on but it took some finesse to get the guide teeth over the sprocket and idler. I think 1 more link would have help a lot. A good bond at the joint is important and I put that at the front of the sprocket so the teeth would help hold it together as I stretched the track over the idler. Next time I will leave the sprocket off and glue it in place with the track already on it since it took some wiggling to get the teeth into the spaces in the track. They are painted with Metalizer gunmetal, given a wash that’s a mix of Mig pigments water and liquid soap. Allowed to fry and the excess brushed off and then a dry brush of steel. The sag is done with blackened pins in holes drilled in the hill. Can’t see the pins at all.

Marc, your work is an inspiration to all small scale builders. I presume that the figures are from the Preiser 72515 German Tank Crew set. After almost a month waiting I finally received this set. Your figures look positively fantastic. To be honest, my first reaction to seeing this build was "this guy makes me sick, why do I even bother." Your pictures are also very good. What type of camera and set-up are you using?
Cheers,
Jan

great model you have there. if the title didn't read 1:72 i'd be sure it's 1:35

Again let me say thank you for all the comments. Glad you like it.
Jan, I use a Canon PowerShot SX10IS. The setup is real simple too. A couple of cheap clip lights form Home Depot, halogen floods and parchment used for baking, since it can take the heat, to diffuse the light. The work bench light, also halogen, is moved around for fill depending on the shot.

I finished the base today and this one can finally go on the shelf.
