I'm giving it a go once again - easing back into painting and detailing 1:35 figures - so my tanks, half-tracks, trucks and so forth don't look so lonely!
There are some paint formulas or color choices I'd like some advice on for WW2 German soldiers.
1. in depicting "tan marsh pattern" camouflage - such as these examples - http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H085961.html and http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H023161.html - can anyone provide ideas on Vallejo or Model Master colors used? What have you folks done with marsh pattern camouflage to give it that "blurred edge" look successfully?
2. I ask the same of the commonly-used M31 "geometric pattern" camouflage - again; a real example: http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H066861.html - I would like to see what choices folks use for this geometric pattern as well, including painting strategies.
Thanks a million! If Anyone would kindly link me to prior posts, blogs, or features on armorama that specifically discuss these two paint patterns, I'd certainly love to know about it!
Adam
On a related note - I apologize in advance if you feel this is a request or question that has been "beaten to death" but I have not been able to locate a "search field" tab on armorama (nor aeroscale) that will permit me to search for old posts. Am I missing something?

The best thing to do is pick up a copy of a figure painting book by Calvin Tan from Osprey Publishing called Modelling Waffen-SS Figures. He has instructions on how to paint the camo plus the Vallejo colors used. It is an EXCELLENT book. For other German uniforms get a book called Modelling Fallschirmjäger Figures By Jaume Ortiz Forns, Daniel Alfonsea Romero also from Osprey, also an EXCELLENT book.
You can also Google Calvin Tan's name to find his web site to pick up other tips and Jaume's too.
