Hi,

what Sherman Firefly kit is the best choice if someone like build this tank?

linkname http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=5374002.png linkname

(it is a early production Sherman VC Firefly (VD Number T-228494) which served as a testing vehicle in the School of Tank Technology)

Cheers,

I don't believe a kit of this particular tank exists, so you would have to get an existing Firefly Vc kit and convert it. I am building Tasca's Firefly Vc kit #35-009 and it is very, very good. This is the only 'Sherman' variant I've tried so you may have more luck as the 'Shermanholics' view your post.

cheers

I would fully recomend the Tasca and Aber combo for any Firefly build. The build flies together and the aber update set has some stunning editions such as the hinged smoke dischargers and vision port guards.

There are around three decent arfter market barrels out there too, Lionroar, Lionmark and Jordo.

I cover two Fireflies in the link below, and if you're interested, there's a 1/72 Firely of mine in next months Scale Military Modelling magazine.

Good luck and have fun with it.

If you happen to have some spare change, gt either the Mark Hayward or Osprey Sherman Firefly books, depending on your budget.

Thanks Eggy

I know that the Aber kit has attachments for the houseboat as seen in the image.

The Tasca kit would be a pretty good starting block I think. There is a better image in Mark Haywards book, I have just checked.

You want the original Tasca Firefly: item:35-009
http://www.tasca-modellismo.com/seihin/firefly5c/firefly5c.html

It has the sandshields and the houseboat fittings in the kit. An Aftermarket barrel is about all you need to add. The best Vc on the market by far. The Aber set is nice but I don't really think you need it for the Tasca Firefly.

Yes, I have that kit in my collection and it looks very cood. It maybe not need any aftermarket parts (only the new barrel like you say), but the turret pistol port (left side of the turret) have to take off, because T-228494 dont have it...

If that is the case then you

Sorry, I didn't notice it was a mid production Low Bustle turret. Get Kit 35-011 then which has a mid production LB turret with cast cheek and no pistol port. It still has the Houseboat fittings in the box.
Cheers
Al
