I'm increasingly becoming more interested in the post-Vietnam Cold War era US Army. I'd like to add an IPM1 to my collection -- especially since it seems the old Tamiya M1 is permanently OOP and hard to get.

Just going from memory, the old Tamiya issue of the M1A1 still had the old hull, and would seem to be the best starting point for this as it has the correct bustle rack. Just slot in an AM 105mm and we're on our way!

Anyone do this? Is there more to it than just this? Will
tamiya ever re-issue the M1 kit?
