Hello all,

Trashed my italeri 109A6 paladin trying to update/repaint it and now i'm looking for another. Don't care if it's italeri or Revell, just need another. I've sent a few PMs to some of you who mentioned you had them, but I thought I'd shotgun blast it also.

Wouldn't mind a set of tracks and the interior detail kits too, but lets not be too picky.

Please let me know what you would want for it shipped to colorado springs, 80840

thanks,
Mo

On a side note, AFAIK there are no available accurate AM tracks for the M109A6 on the market (yet ?) AFV Club's T-136 tracks set is OK for the M108 and earlier M109 variants, but not for the Paladin T-154 tracks...

The AFV Club T-136 track are as close as you are going to get and unless you take a caliper and magnifying glass to them, you can't tell the differences (flange around track pad as a wear bar, and thicker rubber pad on the T-154 tracks). Also, there are no interior or any other AM sets other than a barrel and PE for the M109A6 Paladin. I agree that eBay is the quickest way to go as well.

they seem to be around $60 shipped on ebay and I was really hoping to find one cheaper that someone had laying around collecting dust. I may end up just getting one on ebay. As far as the track, I went ahead and ordered the set everyone is talking about and it should arrive in a few weeks.

I've seen turret interior kits and hull interior kits but they've been long discontinued. I know Warrior picked up that mission, but they seemed to have dropped it just as quickly. It's a shame, because that stuff is beautiful.

I chief one of these things, so I am trying to build MY paladin to the smallest detail. I'm not normally a rivet counter, but this thing will be sitting on my shelf for the remainder of my life so I'd like to get it right.

After this, I will do the piece I was brought up on (M198). I was brought up in 101st and we were the only air assault 198 unit in the world, so I may go elaborate and make a full air assault diorama with chinook and all. The tricky part is capturing the slingload aspect as well as the rappel aspect. (Don't mean to hurt any feelings, but if you're not rapelling out of the bird it's not "air assault", it's simply a slingload op.) I think I may have the 198 rigged for air assault with the sling legs on the ground like it just got cut and show the troops rapping down. The gears are definitely turning on this one, but I want to get my paladin done first.

By the way, I work in an armored division so i'm surrounded with armored vehicles all day. If any of you need any reference pics taken (including my own girl, "Abused Child") let me know. I can get a shot of any non-classified part of these vehicles you guys want.

I'll try ot send up some pics of my girl out in the field just a week and a half ago. Right now the add pics link isn't working for me so I need to troubleshoot for a sec. I'm in Fort Carson, CO and the temp dropped below 0 out there and it was a killer. my lips are still chapped and I almost lost my FAASV driver to hypothermia on the convoy back. it sucked.

Unfortunately the interior sets were for the M109A3/A5, not a Paladin. They sets were first made by Trakz and then Warriors. I think Warriors still has them available.

The Trumpeter M198 is a nice kit. Good luck on it and am looking forward to seeing some great Arty models from you. If you are interested, check out the M198 and M932A1 Prime Mover I just completed.

If you can make it up to Aurora, I think Colpar's had a Paladin last time I was there.
I know I have another Warrior hull interior somewhere. I scratchbuilt the interior once, and found that I was happier with my own work than with the Warrior offering. (there are some photos in my gallery)
If I can find it, I'll be at Carson in a few weeks, and I'll bring it. Although I had problems with the shape of some of the parts, it is essentially the same as the Paladin. As you well know, just get rid of the webbed seats and add more projo storage on each side of the hull.
As for those tracks, no calipers needed - the guide horns are noticably in the wrong spot. I certainly wouldn't recommend repositioning every one, but it might be worth the effort on the spare track links.
Glad to hear there's a cold snap there. Looing forward to some good skiing. but you know the Springs, it might be 70 in two days.

Man, i'd love to get my hands on that warrior hull kit. I don't plan to have the gunner hatch open (th e back door is the only open door when firing), but I'd sure to detail that hull. As far as the tracks, even if they're not perfect I may have to use them. They're a heck of a lot better than the rubber bands that come with the kit. Fruilmodel makes a track set for the APC which looks close enough for government work, but I'd have to buy two sets due to the longer chassis. I know it's not a dead match but they don't make a dead match for my girl yet, so close enough will have to do. The good news is if they ever make an accurate track it will be easy enough to swap out without damaging the kit. I'm going desert tan on mine since darn near every vehicle in the army is tan now and I'm going to snow detail it just like she was a little over a week ago. I'll post pics up as she progresses.

Please keep me posted on that warrior hull kit if you've got it.

take care.

I think I've made a deal to get a replacement model as well as some accessories for it, so I think I'm good.

Thanks again to all for the quick replies and I look forward to chatting with everyone some more.

See you're up at bat again. It was an A2 interior, which would also work for an A3. It was first made by KMC, then Warriors, then Trakz. Warriors hasn't been around for about 10 years. Spuebrothers has the turret set in stock as of this posting.

Man, Robert. Those 109 interior pieces are absolutely beautiful. I see some changes I'd need to make for the Paladin but man that stuff blows me away. Did you paint the rounds up yourself, or are they production pieces? You should really consider casting the stuff you made. I'd love to detail the hull like you've done yours.
