I've found PVA glue or super glue to be effective.
You have to leave the PVA to set for a while but once dry its solid.

Aleenes thick tacky glue. Most art and craft stores here in the U.S. have it. Water based and drys clear and easy to peel off any extra between joints. Has a real strong bond. I use it for all my buildings made of plaster.

I agree Bob. If you are worried about the strength of the joint, drill holes in the mating surfaces, cut some round tooth picks and use them as pins to strengthen the joint.

I use 5 minute epoxy. It has super strength, you don't have to let it dry overnight, and you don't have to worry about the joints coming lose if you use a lot ot water in your aging stage like you do with white glue.
Just make sure not to use too much or it will sqwish out.
