The interior of the M113A1 is often painted in with a light green color, called "light interior". Is the floor also painted in this color?

Thanks in advance!

The color is the Tamyia's "Sky" XF-21.

Check out this page in Robs gallery it shows that for this version yes it was

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?set_albumName=albus03&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

I'll also say it may depend on the version. I just did an M106 (113 mortar carrage version) and the floor is OD.

There are a lot of guys who can provide feedback here.

I always remember the floors (straight M113 APC) as a real dull gray metallic.

The XF-21 is the interiors colour for the Italian M113s and derivatives (including the ones we purchased directly from the States) and it's the same for the Danish ones. Our M106s are 100% OD internally...

I'm going with Kevin on this one. The basic M113/577 floor is unpainted aluminum tread plates. Just the large anti skid floor plates are bare metal, the rest of the sides and other floor protrusions are sea foam green. The heater vent that runs along the forward edge of the combat compartment is OD and not sea foam green. These floor plates are painted OD green or forest green on the M106 and M1064 mortar carriers. The floor of the driver's compartment and all the various foot pedals and foot rests are sea foam green like the walls.

I'll agree with Rob here. The Canadian M113, also have plain aluminum floors. The walls and other interior structures are light green. I think the colour is FS35622. It is variously called "Sea Foam Green" or "Duck Egg Blue".

The floor plates in our tracks (M113/M577) were actually painted the same seafoam green as the rest of the interior. This was in the late 70's in Germany. The truth is that all we had to do is go to the field one time and all of the usage, i.e. foot traffic, equipment movement, etc., would usually wear all of the paint, except at the lowest recesses, completely off. This gave the appearance that plates were actually the aluminum color. By the time that the AGI came around and we repainted the vehicles (inside and out) the plates were usually 90% aluminum with very little trace of the seafoam paint.

On my models, I paint the plates seafoam green (Polly S 505254 - British Sky (type) S) and heavily dry brush them with flat aluminum. Then add a black wash and a brown wash. This gives a very authentic appearance to the interior floor plates.

On the M106/M125 gun tracks, the floor plates were painted OD, but again wear and tear usually wore most of the paint off and they were mostly aluminum in color.

I guess the answer to your question depends on what stage of usage you are modelling. If new and unused the floor plates would be seafoam. If used, then varying degrees of the aluminum would be shown.

Again, this is based on my experiences in Germany in the 70's. I do not know what the color scheme on modern tracks would be. In those cases, rely on the info from Rob and others who have current knowledge.

Brand new factory fresh M113A3s that I have come with plain unpainted aluminum plates. Brand new factory fresh M1064 120mm mortar carrier comes with forest green floor plates. I've got an old M113A2 and it has aluminum floor plates, M901 is the same deal.

If I build an M113 chassied vehicle, I paint the floor metallic color unless it is an M106 (haven't built one yet though). You can paint it whatever color you wish. I do notice that Bradleys have sea foam green floor plates though.

Wow Rob; must be nice to have brand new factory fresh tracks. If we were lucky in Germany, we occasionally got refurbished tracks to replace those that were maxed out on milage. However even those had painted floor plates. In fact we got a refurbished track once in CSC and it was the exact track that my PSG had been on as a young SGT in Nam. (He recognized the serial number, and I checked up on it and found that it indeed had been in Nam and was rotated out to be rebuilt after sustaining some battle damage)

Brand new factory fresh vehicles that promptly get torn apart to teach mechanics how to fix them. Most of the Armorama members who attended my field trip today can vouch that a lot of my stuff has never been used operationally, still got that "new tactical vehicle" smell. Got a brand new M1A1 and M2A2 that have never seen the field but have engines out and all in pieces.

The sacrifice must be worth the price, because as a Mech XO I saw mechanics do miraculous things. Especially in the middle of no where, with flashlights, and what sometimes seemed like only good intentions and bailing wire. My hat's off to all Army maintenance personnel

For what it's worth, the ACAVs in my platoon in Viet Nam (68-69) had bare aluminum floor plate ( which we hardly ever saw because it was covered with two layers of Cal .50 and M-60 machine gun ammo boxes). The rest of the interior was, indeed, sea-foam green.
